Remember not so long ago when the sheer mention of Marijuana would in some circles cause shock and dismay? The pharmaceutical companies were apaplectic about the legalization of it.
Let me provide some details from a column written on April 22nd 2022 by LZ Grandson at the Los Angeles times. According to her article...
Seventy-two U.S. senators accepted donations from the pharmaceutical industry ahead of the 2020 election. That number was 302 for the House. Combined, that’s more than two-thirds of Congress.
More than 2,400 state legislators around the country cashed checks from drug lobbyists, including 82% of state lawmakers in California, which has a deep blue legislature. That’s on par with 84% of lawmakers in Louisiana, a state redder than Mississippi, in case you are tempted to see this as a partisan problem.
In 2021, the lobbying industry broke its overall record — eclipsing $3.7 billion — with experts pointing to Congress’ renewed effort to lower prescription costs as the primary driver behind the spike in pharma spending. Apparently, some people are happy with the status quo and are willing to fight for it
It's important to understand past history because how much is Big Pharma willing to spend to keep things as they are and protect their business against the rise of IV Hydration? For example in 1960, national health expenditures represented 5% of GDP. Today, it’s at an all-time high of 19.7%.
Follow the money and use common sense. The most commonly treated conditions using medical marijuana are listed below:
Alzheimer’s disease
Cancer
Crohn’s disease
Eating disorders
Epilepsy and seizures
Glaucoma
Loss of appetite
Multiple sclerosis symptoms
Nausea, especially related to chemotherapy
Nerve pain
Symptoms of HIV/AIDS
And more
Why would Big Pharma be against alternative treatments to help fellow human beings? Well of course it's pretty obvious that every time you use weed to ease your condition its taking $$$ way from them, and that's why they have fought for decades to protect their market share. There are many articles about this, and we've linked one below from the UK Guardian newspaper.
On a daily basis MrandMrsNurse see patients who tell us their symptoms are eased by the use of medical marijuana. We are not writing this article as support one way or another, but merely to point out that when it comes to negative articles on IV Hydration we have seen this story play out before.
So let's talk IV Hydration...

Did you know that Sir Christopher Wren created the first successful infusion device during his lifetime (1632-1723). The device, made from a pig's bladder and a writing quill, wasn't very durable -- but it worked. It allowed him to pump outside substances into the bloodstream of a dog. (Fun fact: Wren also made improvements to the microscope.) Although the device he created was a challenge to secure, it did pave the way for future creations, like the IV pumps we use today.
Modern medicine has really come a long way in a short time. It really wasn't until the early-to-mid-1800s that injections and transfusions started to be readily used to improve patient health. During the 1930s, Dr. Thomas Latta found that salt water, injected into the bloodstream, could help fight cholera.

IV Hydration has been around for centuries.
There's nothing new about it..
In the 1960s, IV infusion pumps became a ubiquitous sight in hospitals all across the country. This was also during the time when Dr. John Myers started injecting patients with what he called a “cocktail” of vitamins and minerals. His exact formula was lost upon his death in the 1980s, but experts came up with a modified version that's pretty close. The cocktail includes vitamins B and C, magnesium sulphate, calcium gluconate, and selenium to manage conditions ranging from allergies and asthma, to heart disease and fibromyalgia. This showed that IV therapy isn't just for blood transfusions; it can help patients receive valuable nutrients, too
We're sure you've experienced or seen when you go to a hospital or clinic the first thing that a nurse or physician typically does is hook you up to an IV. This is so they can re-hydrate you, and provide any needed medications, vitamins, pain relief or nutrients.
Nothing controversial in that right?
So why some negative press for IV Hydration at a location of your choice? Aaaah, well we're looking at the same familiar story as Big Pharma's push back on marijuana.
FOLLOW THE MONEY!
After your quick visit to the ER for some much needed IV hydration therapy, what follows? That's right a HUGE bill sometimes in the thousands. Are you getting the picture as to why Big Pharma wants to protect their market share when it comes to the booming IV Hydration business?
According to Global Market Insights the US. home infusion therapy market size surpassed USD 11billion in 2022 and is poised to depict over 10% GACR through 2023 - 2032.

Let's think about this, every-time someone gets an IV infusion at home, in their office or location of their choice, hospitals, clinics and Big Pharma lose out on revenue. It doesn't matter to them that IV hydration has been around for centuries, it doesn't matter that having it done away from the hospital is significantly cheaper, for them your wellness at a lower cost takes a back seat to their market share.
So next time you see a negative article about IV hydration, ask yourself about your experience or those of a loved one. Did the IV hydration they receive help or harm their recovery?
