Leeches for bloodletting has been used by physicians for at least 2,500 years. Bloodletting was practiced according to the theory of humors found in the Hippocratic Corpus of the fifth century BC.
We hear you asking, "I thought this blog was about Vitamin IV Therapy?
Well hang on, it is, but here's the point (We hope lol). Would you want to be covered in leeches today? Of course not, the reason the practice of using leeches is no longer in *common use is because modern medicine and science evolves, and along with patients wanting convenience, the healthcare industry changes too.
Ok, with that out the way, let's talk vitamins...

Did you know that Americans have been taking vitamin supplements since the 1940s. A quarter or more of individuals in their 20s or 30s take a vitamin or mineral dietary supplement, and according to the National Institute of Health (NIH), for those 60 years or older, the number jumps to almost 40%.
Now up to recently, the only option for the vast majority of people was to take vitamins by mouth, or go to the hospital or a medical center and have them infuse vitamins via an IV at huge cost,. however as mentioned earlier things change.
Not everyone wants to take pills everyday or their digestive systems just wont tolerate the constant abuse of pills entering the system. Many people have a digestive disorder that simply prevents proper absorption of nutrients.
When you take vitamins orally, they must first be broken down by the digestive system before they can be absorbed into the bloodstream. This can be a slow and inefficient process, and some vitamins may not be absorbed at all. In contrast, IV therapy delivers nutrients directly into the bloodstream, bypassing the digestive system altogether. This means that nutrients are immediately available to the body and can be put to use right away.
Let's say you're pretty healthy, and take vitamin c regularly orally. The problem is (even for healthy people), when you come down with a cold, your body burns through much more vitamin C than it would if you were in a healthier state.
Swallowing vitamin c is plausible in doses up to a few thousand milligrams, but beyond that, it tends to cause diarrhea. So, an IV infusion of vitamin C works around this problem to provide greater quantities of a substance that is much needed in order to more quickly and effectively fight the infection.
If you are recovering from an illness or injury, your body may be under stress and may not be able to absorb nutrients as efficiently as usual. In these cases, IV therapy can provide a much-needed boost of nutrients to help speed up the healing process.
The benefits of Vitamin IV infusions are numerous: They are changing the way people get their vitamins and they're seeing improved mental clarity, plus an overall feeling that their immune system has been boosted, which can defend against viruses and flu. IV hydration therapy offers body and mind fine-tuning, and clearer, smoother skin, hair and nails.
When you're feeling unwell with stomach flu or a cold, do you really want to get dressed, get in the car, drive to the emergency room, sit for hours with really sick and/or injured people? Plus, you're likely to end up just being re-hydrated and sent home with a huge bill.
